Classes with Ann Hill

·      Tuesday 23rd April –Book cover(A4):

Ever wondered what it would be like to have a guddle about with some paint and some fabric.   Well that’s what we will be doing at our covered notebook class.  You will learn the basics in free machine quilting  to make what will look like rocks on the seashore – I promise that’s what they will look like once you have finished it!   Then we will paint some of those circles with acrylic paints (brush and paint provided) and the artist in you will flourish.   We will then turn it into a beautiful cover for an A4 notebook (provided in the pack).    Come and enjoy a day of friendship and fun.   This class is suitable for all levels and even those who haven’t started sewing yet.

Packs (if required) are £15 which includes all the fabric, wadding, paints, notebook, etc.

Bring your own sewing machine, cutting mat, ruler, etc.   If you don’t have them let us know in plenty of time and we might be able to lend you one.

·      Wednesday 24th April – Tote Bag –

Some call it a ‘tote bag’, others will call it a hand bag.  It’s about the size of an A4 sheet wide. However, add a couple of inches and you can make any size you want.    I make these regularly for myself as it is easy to carry, slung over a shoulder or over my arm with the shortening strap.   There is a pocket on the bag with a fancy zip (very easy to put in), there are two open top pockets on the front.  I use one for my phone and the other for chocolate!!

It is a nice and easy pattern.  You can either have a plain front with no applique or you can have a wee pattern of bird houses and a couple of embroidered flowers.  I am not big on hand sewing so the embroidery will be only a little bit. Once you have made one you will keep making them. Great as gifts.

Packs (if you need one) are £25 complete or if you want to use your own fabrics then simply ask for a fabric requirements list.   (This is the back).

Suitable for beginners and experts alike.

·      Tuesday 30th April –Landscape wall-hanging.

Have you ever looked out of your window and thought ‘now there’s a great view’.   Well this is the view from my sewing room window.  I look out of the old church manse across the glebe and the farms that surround me.  It is a view I never get tired off.

Come and learn how to make a landscape wallhanging.  Bring along a photograph of your favourite view and I will show you how to adapt it to make a simple wallhanging.  This class is suitable for all levels and even those who haven’t started sewing yet.  Colour and fabrics may vary from the one shown here.  It is a while since I made this one.   It is roughly 14” x 16” and finished with an invisible binding and hanging sleeve.

Packs (if required) are £18 which includes  the fabric to make the top only.   If you want backing and wadding add another £7.   Complete pack £25.  If you prefer to use your own fabric then please ask for a fabric requirements list.

Bring your own sewing machine, cutting mat, ruler, etc.  Don’t forget to bring coloured threads.  Cotton threads for piecing and anything at all for the satin stitching although cotton is always best.   However, I have loads of threads so don’t worry if you don’t have the colours. Simply bring some spare bobbins and I will put some threads on it for you to use.
