General Manager

Please note that the closing date for applications has now passed.

Shambellie House New Abbey is undergoing a transformation and we are looking for someone who shares our passion in this project and in the area to manage this innovative new facility.

This elegant Scots baronial country house built in 1856 was home to the Stewart family until it was gifted to the Nation in 1977 when it operated as a Museum by the National Museum of Scotland until it closed in 2013.

Now the Scottish Government have returned the House and grounds to a local charity, Shambellie House Trust to open in early 2022 as a centre delivering short courses on arts, crafts, wildlife, photography wellbeing etc.  Courses will be delivered by local experts and will draw on the rich heritage of the region for their inspiration.

The Trust have thoroughly researched this project and believe that this will become a sustainable business within a very short period.  Funding for the building works is largely complete and work has commenced on repairs and alterations.

We now have a long list of very enthusiastic Tutors anxious to deliver an eclectic mix of courses using the Centre – now we need the right person to drive this business forward recruiting, motivating, and training staff, working with Tutors, marketing the courses and above all delivering a great experience for clients.

See below for the Job Description and person specification.
