Quilt Fling

21 May 2020 - 10:00 to 31 May 2020 - 16:00

From 21st to 31st May 2020 we will be introducing  ”Quilt Fling” at Shambellie House, New Abbey, Dumfries.   Plans are well under way to turn what was the Scottish Costume Museum into an arts and crafts facility offering residential classes as well as one, two day and weekend classes.   Our first venture offers classes from both local quilters and embroiderer’s along with some ‘well kent’ faces from the quilting world.     Providing two day classes are:

  • Stuart Hillard is a TV personality, author and quilter.   He will be doing two quilts from his first two books.   He will also be giving a talk on his own quilts.
  • Carol Munro is a teacher who specialises in using rulers to quilt by machine.
  • Joanna O’Neill is a textile artist, author and quilt judge.

One day classes are being offered by Gillian Cooper and local Dumfries quilters and embroiderer’s.   Classes are limited to 20 pupils so early bookings are advisable. Further information is available on request and also on our FB pages.

There is plenty of accommodation in Dumfries including our local hotels, Mabie House Hotel, Premier Inn, Holiday Inn, Travelodge, etc., if you want to do one of the two day classes.
