Scottish Government grant for Shambellie House

4 Mar 2020 - 09:59

The future of Shambellie House took an important step forward this week with confirmation of a £62,048 grant to appoint a Project Development Manager.  The new post will take the project forward over the next two years. With a sound business plan and costed development programme already completed, the focus is now looking at capital funding, better connecting with the local creative and cultural communities such as the quilters running the ‘Quilt Fling’ at Shambellie in May, and working with local disadvantaged groups to better meet their needs and aspirations.

John Stewart, descendant of creators of Shambellie House and Vice-Chair of the Trust developing a new future says ‘We are grateful for the generosity of the Scottish Government’s ‘Investing in Communities Fund’ which will allow us to make real progress in making the House a key part of supporting and strengthening D&G’s creative and cultural offering to locals and visitors from further afield. We look forward to receiving applications from local people for the new role”.
