Design and make your own piece of silvery clay jewellery. Build on the skills you have learned in previous Silver Clay workshops with Sybil.
Sybil, from Solway Silver is a silver clay artist. Silver clay is a manufactured product made from tiny particles of pure silver which are suspended in an organic binder. The piece is formed in clay then fired in a kiln. During the firing process the binder burns off and the particles of silver sinter into a solid piece. This piece is 99.9% pure silver. Sybil comments that, ‘…some sort of magic goes on in the kiln, it’s like alchemy’. Her work is inspired by the landscapes and wildlife of Dumfries and Galloway. She has a background in education and enjoys sharing her silver clay techniques through workshops.
The Silver Clay Workshop runs from 10.00am until 1.00pm and includes refreshments including fresh coffee, teas and cake.
All materials will be provided by the tutor at a charge of £30 per person PAYABLE ON THE DAY!
