These are half day monthly workshop for beginners and improvers who want to explore the different methods of hand-building and different decoration styles of pottery. It will be possible to try out pinching, coiling and slab work and make vessels or sculptures personal to you.

Participants should book into two workshops of your choice to allow for firing of your work and then decoration and glazing. See ‘Available Dates’ for workshops.

Projects can be lead by the tutor or self-directed as preferred and the workshops can be a one-off experience or a regular course for those who want to do larger projects. There will be various decoration methods to try including coloured slips, scraffito, embossing and transfer printing and all finished work will be dried and fired with a transparent glaze for collection when ready.

Refreshments and lunch included.

There will be an additional £10 for clay and firing cost paid directly to the Tutor on the day.

Prior to moving to Dumfries two years ago, I had a career teaching art and photography at Colchester Sixth Form College in Essex. I have taught students in all areas of art and art history and have worked as a community artist with The Stove Network in NW Dumfries for the past 18 months. I also have a home studio where I combine my interests of stained glass and photo-screen printing. I have taught glass, photography and ceramics workshops to all age groups over the years.
