Want to have a go at making jewellery?  This workshop will give you the opportunity to have a go at making a copper bracelet using the chainmaille technique.

Description

An introductory taster session with tutor Derek Banks which will give you the basics behind chainmaille jewellery and the opportunity to make a bracelet in ‘Byzantine’ weave using copper jump rings and a magnetic clasp.

You may feel that you want to adapt the bracelet – no limits on using your own creativity.

All tools and materials are supplied.

This is for beginners, no experience necessary.

About the Day

Chainmaille Bracelet Making will run from 10am and will be followed with a break for tea, coffee and cakes.  You are welcome to stay and soak up the atmosphere of Shambellie until 1pm – continue the activity, bring a book, walk the grounds or just relax.

Essential Information

All tools and materials will be provided including copper rings and clasps.

The workshop takes place in the Ground Floor Drawing Room.  There is a flight of stairs from the main entrance with a stair lift.

Derek Banks

Derek has been making jewellery for about 20 years. He mainly makes chain maille jewellery in a number of different weaves and is always trying to learn new ones.
