Want to have a go at making jewellery?  This workshop will give you the opportunity to have a go at making a copper bracelet using the chainmaille technique.

Description

Our tutor Derek Banks will introduce you to chainmaille jewellery and you will make a copper chainmaille bracelet in Byzantine weave.  You will learn the basics to be able to adapt this weave, or even go onto more complex weaves.

As part of our Wellness Through Creativity programme, after the workshop refreshments will be served and you are welcome to stay on in the house to carry on your jewellery making, read, walk the grounds or just relax until 1pm.

This is for beginners, no experience necessary.

About the Day

Chainmaille Bracelet Making will run from 10am and will be followed by tea, coffee and cakes.  You are welcome to stay and soak up the atmosphere of Shambellie until 1pm – continue the activity, bring a book, walk the grounds or just relax.

Essential Information

All tools and materials will be provided including copper rings and clasps.

The workshop takes place in the Ground Floor Drawing Room.  There is a flight of stairs from the main entrance with a stair lift.

Derek Banks

Derek has been making jewellery for about 20 years. He mainly makes chain maille jewellery in a number of different weaves and is always trying to learn new ones.
