This two day workshop offers the opportunity to visit our beautiful part of Scotland and be guided to take a variety of shots in great locations by our professional, award winning landscape photographer Allan Wright.
The experience will start at Shambellie House at 10:00am with a welcome refreshment, introductions and outline for the weekend. You will depart for day one, being transported by your tutor Allan as driver, personal guide and photography tutor. Throughout the day you will be visiting different locations, learning new skills and sharing ideas. Lunch will be informal and eaten amongst the beautiful scenery that Dumfries and Galloway has to offer.
You will return to Shambellie late afternoon for refreshments and to make use of the Digital Suite guided by Allan. Formal input will finish around 6.30pm on day one. Day two will start after breakfast, leaving Shambellie around 10am and visiting more handpicked locations in the local area. You will either return to Shambellie House or eat lunch in another beautiful spot, relaxing, enjoying the scenery and company and learning more about landscape photography with Allan. The group will return to Shambellie House to complete the weekend with a photoshop session to edit and then print off a favourite image from the weekend.
Depending on weather and willingness of participants the start/end times can be adjusted to offer the opportunity to catch a sunrise and/or sunset shot along our beautiful coastline.
What you can expect from the course:
In the field:

- Developing the power and receptivity of the “seeing eye”.
- Encouragement and guidance to tap into the “inner artist” we all have.
- Appreciating and harnessing the power of natural / ambient light.
- The importance of composition and its role in revealing the inherent subject.
- Simplifying how to be at ease with the camera and the technical options offered.
- Guidance on reading, navigating and understanding landform and light to shorten the odds of a better strike rate.
In the Digital Suite:
Tuition in the digital suite will involve editing sessions using Adobe Photoshop at approximately (weather dependent) 50% of course content. Emphasis will be on the importance of distilling the best from a shoot for subsequent correction and enhancement for maximum image quality / enjoyment.
You will be provided with an A2 print of your favourite shot to take away with you.
