Description
Visit this fantastic Scottish Baronial House as part of Dumfries and Galloway’s Doors Open Days. Doors Open Days is Scotland’s largest free festival that celebrates heritage and the built environment, particularly places which aren’t regularly open to the public.
John Stewart, Chair of Shambellie House Trust and descendant of the Stewart Family can share stories and anecdotes about days gone and tell you a little of the history. You can also explore our wonderful grounds as part of your visit. The following groups will be represented to show what goes on in the House nowadays in applied crafts, photography and film, textiles and quilting, visual arts and wellbeing:
- Artists of Shambellie
- Photographers of Shambellie
- Quilters of Shambellie
- Summer Creativity Club
We also have a wonderful exhibition of photographs by John McKenna and Kimonos and photographs from Alan Bennington kindly still on show after our Japanese Summer Festival Weekend.
The tearoom and shop will be open throughout for light refreshments.
