Discover the basics of how to get the best out of your digital camera.

Description

You will learn some basic camera skills, exploring the camera functions and how best to frame your subject.  If the weather is fine, we will do some work in the grounds, so you can really get started putting the theory into practice.

This course is suitable for beginners.

About the Day

An Introduction to digital photography will run from 10am until 4pm and includes refreshments throughout the day including fresh coffee, teas and a light lunch.

Essential Information

Please bring your digital camera with a fully charged battery, as well as any spare memory cards.  A notebook and pen would also be useful.

The workshop takes place in the Ground Floor Drawing Room.  There is a flight of stairs from the main entrance with a stair lift.

Alan has been a photographer for over 25 years and gained a HND in photography from Dumfries and Galloway College.  He worked semi-professionally for a number of years covering events, before becoming a full-time professional in 2015.  Alan attended the University of Cumbria, Institute of Arts to gain a BA (Hons) in Photography.  He is experienced in studio lighting and has taught lighting techniques from basic to advanced.  His day-to-day work is often studio based including pet portraits.  Alan has a great passion for photography and enjoys teaching the basics through to advanced imaging in camera and digital editing.
