Discover the places of Dumfries and Galloway where people have travelled on pilgrimage, marked life’s events, or found tranquillity.  From stone circles and Neolithic monuments to healing wells and holy shrines.  In this intriguing and well-illustrated presentation Tom Hughes will explore the landscape of our region and the ways in which people have found hope and tranquillity in these special sites.



About the Event

Sacred Spaces runs from 6.30-8pm, with tea and coffee being served from 6pm.

The talk takes place in the Ground Floor Dining Room. There is a flight of stairs from the main entrance with a stair lift.

Tom Hughes

Tom Hughes is a historian and storyteller, with a particular interest in the social history and lives of ordinary people. He has worked in museums for over two decades, using living history and hands-on workshops to connect people with the past. Tom is the Access Officer at Dumfries Museum and lives nearby at Newbridge.
