Description

The waters of the Solway were once a hotbed for smugglers.   This talk will explore the Solway’s murky past with stories of the fascinating characters who plied their dangerous trade and pitted themselves against the law including the most famous Exciseman of them all, Robert Burns.

 

 

About The Event

Burns and the Smugglers runs from 2.00-3.30pm.

The talk takes place in the Ground Floor Dining room. There is a flight of stairs from the main entrance with a stair lift.

David Wibberley is a writer, editor, educator and leadership coach. After a long career in the fire service David has had a successful second career in freelance writing and journalism, regularly writing for national and regional publications. David has over 30 years’ experience in adult education and is also a qualified secondary school teacher where he taught English and History to ‘A’ Level students.

David uses his lifetime experience to deliver accessible courses that are both enjoyable and rewarding.
