Since opening in April 2022, Shambellie House has welcomed many happy participants to a diverse range of courses. Here’s what they said:

“Thoroughly enjoyed the course”

Thoroughly enjoyed the course, was a nice length of course too. I would love to see courses of this length and price as a long term fixture on your programmes as it is very accessible and is suitable for trying new things out with comfort zones! Delighted with the course and the coffee and cake was lovely. Thanks again.

“Totally different from everyday life”

Totally different from everyday life. Total time out. Lovely social group just the right size. Great square table layout meant chatting very easy. Very peaceful space. No stressors at all. Lovely to have tea and cake presented so nicely. An experience on its own. So nice not having to wrestle with urns and teabags! All extremely human-friendly. Totally not aggravating.

“Tearing paper with purpose focused my mind”

I’ve been thinking this afternoon about how the process of tearing paper with purpose focused my mind and very much kept me in the here and now. I would like to explore the technique further to make birds, flowers etc, but I also think the act of tearing paper into shapes would be a useful meditative tool.

“The atmosphere was very relaxing”

The atmosphere was very relaxing and the tutor very knowledgeable and good at communications that this was purely about our enjoyment, no pressure to produce an end result and encouraging.

“An encouraging environment”

It gave me an outlet to try something new, in an encouraging environment. It created ideas for the future which I would like to do more work on. It brought together a group of women who got on well.

“The course was very relaxed”

The course was very relaxed. We were encouraged to explore a new experience-making art from torn paper. We were all given positive, affirming responses by the tutor.

“Lovely instructor, lovely venue”

Lovely instructor, lovely venue, nice people to just be around.

“So pleased to see Shambellie back”

I am so pleased to see Shambellie back open again and being looked after and being used for such nice events.

“Boosted my confidence”

It was relaxing and enjoyable. Boosted my confidence. Non stressful learning experience.

“Wonderful morning”

Wonderful morning a great way to relax and came away feeling more confident, bought materials on the way home for me to carry on.

“Lovely informal approach”

Fabulous – the tutor put us at ease. Lovely informal approach. Learned loads. Great refreshments. Lovely welcome from the centre manager.

“Calm and relaxing”

Yes, it was calm and relaxing as I was totally focused on what I was doing and not thinking of anything beyond that, that I needed to do later.

“Enjoyable and I felt recharged”

This was such a good day, really enjoyable and I felt recharged and inspired by the whole experience. Thank you for taking so much time and so much effort to make this special for the participants.

“What a fabulous day”

What a fabulous day and the experience was complimented well with such a gorgeous setting and friendly atmosphere.

“Something complex and beautiful.”

When you are concentrating on creating something, especially something complex and beautiful, you forget about your aches and pains.

“Encouraging us to go beyond our comfort zones”

The tutor had everything laid out & explained beforehand what we would be doing , demo just prior to each different technique & quietly but firmly encouraging us to go beyond our comfort zones resulting in lots of new experiences for us with good results.

“I enjoyed the less formal workshop approach”

I enjoyed the less formal workshop approach. It was refreshing to be allowed to contribute at one’s own pace whilst listening to the tutor and other course participants. I also enjoyed the ‘open’ approach to ‘expected outcomes’ and the positivity and encouragement throughout.

“The course was very well organised”

The course was very well organised, with flexibility built in so could respond to our needs and interests as participants. Allison was a great tutor, really had a lot of experience, knowledge and skills to share, which she did very generously. The course really made the most of the character of the house and woodland and that made it very special.

“I really enjoyed the whole day”

I really enjoyed the whole day, the setting, the friendly welcome, the shared learning experience and the great workshop. I would highly recommend courses at Shambellie House to others.

“Boosted my confidence greatly”

Everyone on the course was lovely, the tutor made you feel at ease with no pressure and ended up with a piece of work that I could be proud of and has boosted my confidence greatly. Thanks!

“A way to relax”

Please pass on my thanks to the tutor, who I thought to be extremely knowledgeable and who has really inspired me to become more involved in the art of embroidery both as a way to relax and also to express myself.
