General Information

There is a warm welcome awaiting you at Shambellie House and the team will do everything they can to make sure you have a comfortable and enjoyable visit.  Below is some general information to help inform your visit.

Parking and Drop-off

As part of our phased development at Shambellie House, we will be focusing next on parking within our Landscape Development Plan.  In the meantime, there is limited parking at the house, so with this in mind please park considerately.  For those of you who are able, please park in the car park at the bottom of the drive and walk to the house via the signed woodland pathway and drive.  The driveway is a relatively steep slope, so you may want to drop off any equipment and materials at the house before moving your car.
On approaching New Abbey from Dumfries you will see a sign for Shambellie House.  The turning to the house is through gateposts on the right 100 yards from this sign.  Continue up the drive to the house to drop off or park, passing the lodge on your left.  There are a number of passing places on the driveway.  The turning for the roadside car park next to the Lodge turning.

Accessible Parking

There are two accessible parking spaces outside the house.  Please contact us if you know you are going to need this parking and we will reserve you a space.  The house is then accessed via an outdoor ramp and stair lift.

Facilities

There are accessible toilets on the ground floor level, along with baby changing facilities.

Workrooms and Accessibility

As part of our phased development we intend to install lifts when funding becomes available to make the house fully accessible, however in the meantime we will do everything in our power to ensure an inclusive visit.  Below is an indication of our workspaces and their proposed use.  All details of courses will indicate the proposed workroom to be used for delivery.  If you do have accessibility issues, please get in touch so that we can try to identify a bespoke solution.
