Growing Rural Talent

Shambellie House Trust is delighted to be hosting six recruits as part of a Growing Rural Talent Pilot, funded by the UK Governments Shared Prosperity Funding. Chris, Lewis, Andy, Leon, Ryan and Michael are with us for paid work experience and skills development in the Rural Sector.

The pilot programme comprises an 8-week placement opportunity giving people hands on, practical experience in a range of environments to develop skills and awareness important to our rural sector. Participants are enjoying gaining experience in:

  • Estate maintenance
  • Employability skills for land-based Industries
  • Fundamentals of woodland management
  • Biodiversity across a range of habitats
  • Health and Safety in a rural setting
  • Sustainable Food Production
  • Sustainable Tourism

Based at Shambellie House, the group have been working on our landscape management plan and supporting the Grounds and Community Project as well as working across a range of partner sites to develop their understanding of available job roles in the region. We hope this will provide them with inspiration for future career goals and valuable work experience to help them gain employment in our thriving rural sector.

We think you will agree – they are making a huge difference to the grounds at Shambellie House and we think the place is looking great coming into spring!
