| Did you know that honey bees dance to tell their friends where the sweetest flowers can be found?
Join us for a fascinating afternoon exploring the busy life of a honey bee. You will find out about the incredible world inside a beehive, where thousands of bees work together to collect nectar, make honey and care for their colony.
You will also discover how bees use the famous “waggle dance” to share directions before having fun learning the dance yourself. You’ll also have the chance to taste a selection of delicious honeys and see how their colours and flavours can change depending on the flowers the bees have visited.
To finish the session, you will make and decorate a beautiful rolled beeswax candle to take home—a natural reminder of the wonderful work bees do every day.
A fun-filled afternoon of discovery, movement and creativity that celebrates one of nature’s most amazing insects.
We may be outside for some of the time so please wear suitable footwear, old clothes and bring a showerproof jacket and.
Make a day of it! In the morning we have another activity session where you can Become a Bee Buddy (bookable separately). Why not bring a packed lunch and stay for the day?
Parent’s please note: this session is suitable for unaccompanied children aged 7 years or over. Parents must sign children in and out of the session and leave an emergency contact number. Session leaders are members of Disclosure Scotland Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme.
