Introduction to Glass Etching – Crafting Workshop

From: £30.00

Friday 26th september

1pm to 4pm

In this workshop you’ll learn how to use glass etching paste to create something beautiful from recycled glass containers.   Etching paste, as the name suggests, etches into the surface of glass creating opaque areas.  Unlike some spray on treatments, this effect is permanent and does not wear off.

Description

Aimed at those completely new to working with glass etching paste (or any form of crafting) this fun workshop will teach you how to safely use glass etching paste.   Working with stencils, or free-hand, you’ll learn how to apply the paste and create designs on glass.

You’ll start by creating a simple glass coaster or tree ornament (it’s never too early to start prepping for Christmas!).  Then you’ll learn how to cut a wine bottle in half and prepare the base to be used as a candle jar.  Once you have decorated it, Carol will fill it with fragranced soy wax and you will have a unique candle to take away with you.

This workshop is suitable for those with no crafting experience, or those who are experienced crafters but have never tried working with glass etching paste.  No prior experience is necessary; you will be guided and supported throughout the process.  Due to the nature of the chemicals used, this workshop is not suitable for children under 16 years of age.
