Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) is a technique that combines the use of a slow shutter speed and intentional movement of the camera – take this chance to learn more about this creative process from Morag Paterson, award-winning, professional landscape photographic artist.

Morag Paterson is a leading member of a community of like-minded photographers using ICM to take interesting and creative photographs.  Join her for an inspiring and informative talk to hear about the ICM community and gain lots of tips and ideas for expanding creative working.

This will be followed by a one hour creative session outside, including introduction to ICM for beginners and tips for more advanced techniques for experienced photographers. Hear all about it and then have time to have a go yourself!

There will also be a short optional processing session at the end of the workshop for those who wish.

About the Day

This is a talk and workshop combined, running as part of our Photography Festival. The talk starts at 1pm with the workshop starting at around 2.30 pm after a refreshment break and will last until around 4pm.

There will also be a short optional processing session at the end of the workshop for those who wish.

Please feel free to arrive early for a chance to view the exhibition of photographs.

The talk will take place on the ground floor which is accessible by wheelchairs and some areas of the grounds are also accessible. Please contact us if you have access needs and have any questions.

Kit and Requirements

A camera with manual controls or at least ability to control shutter speed (if using this option it would also be helpful to have neutral density filters) or smartphone with either ‘Slow Shutter’ app for iPhone or Camera FV-5 for android. Participants should familiarise themselves with the functionality of apps and relevant camera controls before attending.

Warm and waterproof clothing, sturdy footwear as we will be spending some tome outside.

Please bring a laptop to download if you would like to join in the optional processing session.

If you have answered yes and would like to discuss your requirements then please get in touch.
